At the Breaking Point
SOLO VIOLIN | 5’ | DIFFICULTY - HARD | 2017
At the Breaking Point is a reflection on mental breakdowns, particularly those involved in an anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorder.
In those situations, a single idea or event can trigger a chain of incessant, repeated thoughts. The nonstop obsession over something minuscule or large often leads to a panic response. Worried musings repeats and repeats; the anxiety seemingly never ends until the individual reaches the "breaking point," causing an inward, disassociated state. With a mental disorder, this frequently becomes a vicious cycle, as the obsessive thought returns with a vengeance.
